October 4th 2008- Naples, FL-  At Bob Evans we held a CAR WASH - in Kayla's Honor. We want to thank everyone who volunteered and helped us earn $628.00 for the KAYLA MARIE JOINER FOUNDATION while we were spreading the word
 "BUCKLE UP"

June 2008- Jersey Shore- In honor of Kayla we had a special day to remember all of the good times we shared and to wish Kayla a Happy Birthday. It was really special. I'm so thankful to everyone for making it so nice. I know Kayla loved it. The best part for her was probably popping Uncle Billy's balloons. You know how she liked to play around.

May 12, 2008 - Naples, FL - Scholarships presented at Palmetto Ridge High School at Senior's Awards Night.

December 9, 2007 - Boca Raton, FL-  A candle was lit in Kayla's memory at The Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting. This is an annual event which is held simultaneously around the globe. Candles are lit by parents, siblings and friends to remember those children taken too soon so that their light may always shine.

November 28, 2007 - Naples, FL - Palmetto Ridge High School - Kayla's Uncle Mikey and I went to Kayla's school to sell t-shirts, key chains and bumper stickers to raise money for the foundation. The scholarships were also set up. It was a great turn out by all of Kayla's friends. A big thank you to everyone who helped!

November 17, 2007-Naples, FL- American Heart Association Walk

Kayla had dedicated her time to walk and raise money for the American Heart Association Walk at Cambier Park in Naples. Family and friends joined together to walk in Kayla's honor. We surpassed her donation goal, while good times of Kayla were remembered.

Unfortunately, as we walked, we noticed many drivers NOT wearing their seatbelts. We were able to persuade most of them to buckle up.

Later, in the day, we visited Bob Evans Restaurant, where Kayla was a waitress. Rachel, the manager, made a generous donation to Kayla's foundation on behalf of Bob Evans, as well as offered the use of the restaurant's parking lot for a future car wash to raise even more money. Look for the details soon!

I’m Thankful for You

Thanksgiving is a special time
for focusing on the good in our lives.
In each of our days,
we can find small blessings,
but too often we overlook them,
choosing instead to spend our time
paying attention to problems.
We give our energy
to those who cause us trouble
instead of those who bring peace.
Starting now,
let’s be on the lookout
for the bits of pleasure in each hour,
and appreciate the people who
bring love and light to everyone
who is blessed to know them.
You are one of those people.
On Thanksgiving,
I’m thankful for you.

Kayla, you taught me that life can be
cut short at any time.
I would give  anything to share one more day with you, hear your voice, see your beautiful smile and tell you I love you soooooo much.

Recognize the gifts  you have and treasure them because you never know when they can be taken away.
